Homegrown in Salisbury, NC, Jerod Jacobs is a producer who built his
business one mic, one camera, and one opportunity at a time. In high
school, Jacobs took an interest in writing and recording music and he
connected two cassette decks together to record his ideas. This led to the
purchase of a 4-track cassette recorder and a Wal-Mart microphone. The
journey began. After high school, Jacobs moved to Asheville and began
to book and produce musical projects for other artists out of a duplex. In
2004, he returned to his home town and partnered with Domenic Sabol
to build Ava Recording Facility. The studio space and infrastructure
provided a work space for a variety of experiences producing, tracking,
and engineering audio projects for independent artists, labels, filmmakers,
and businesses.
While producing and engineering records, Jacobs was introduced to other
photography, video, graphic design, and animation projects. In 2010 he
began sixfootkitten, a media production company and studio located in
central North Carolina that has produced an eclectic portfolio of media
projects for artists, agencies, and corporate clients. In 2018, the decision
to focus on feature films produced new opportunities to collaborate and
provide production and post-production services to five feature films
(Lula & Miguel, Fall Night in China Grove, Goodbye Butterfly,
Reggie: A Millennial Depression Comedy, and Skateshop).
Whether providing production support on a film, or producing content
for agencies and corporate clients, Jacobs is always learning and always
producing. Intuitive and technical behind a camera and console.
